Cross-Platform Mobile App Developer

We are looking for a Cross-Platform Mobile App Developer to build the buyer-facing mobile application for our new vertical gift marketplace platform. The mobile app will support Android and iOS using a shared codebase built with Expo React Native.

The selected candidate will work closely with the Lead Full-Stack Developer and integrate the mobile app with the same shared backend and database used by the website. The app will focus on marketplace browsing, product detail, cart, checkout, account, orders, notifications, and gift-specific flows such as recipient details, gift message, gift wrap, scheduling, and wishlist.

Key Responsibilities
– Build Android and iOS apps using – Expo React Native
– Build mobile screens for:
splash/onboarding
– login/signup
– home
– category browsing
– product detail
– cart
– checkout
– wishlist
– recipient book
– order history
– tracking
– support entry
– review/rating
– Integrate the mobile app with shared backend APIs
– Use shared types and API contracts from the backend team
– Implement good mobile UX and performance
– Handle navigation, state management, loading states, and error states
– Implement push notification integration when ready
– Test on Android and iOS devices
– Work with the web/backend developer to keep the experience consistent
– Help refine mobile-first marketplace UX

Required Skills
– Strong experience with React Native
– Strong experience with Expo
– Strong experience with JavaScript / TypeScript
– Experience with API integration
– Experience with mobile navigation and screen structure
– Experience building production-ready Android and iOS apps
– Experience with state management and mobile performance
– Good understanding of app debugging and testing

– Experience with Expo Router
– Experience with NativeWind
– Experience with push notifications
– Experience with deep linking
– Experience with mobile ecommerce flows
– Experience with app deployment process for Play Store / App Store
– Experience with image handling, – form validation, and app performance tuning

Must Understand

The candidate must understand that:
– the mobile app will not have a separate backend
– the mobile app must use the same NestJS backend as the website
– the app must stay consistent with the website’s marketplace logic

– Can work closely with backend/web developer
– Can build clean mobile UI from design or wireframes
– Can handle mobile-first user flows
– Can explain work simply to a beginner founder
– Can use AI coding tools but still maintain quality and structure

Nice to Have
– Experience with ecommerce apps
– Experience with order tracking or marketplace apps
– Experience with gifting or recipient-based app flows
